NB: In addition, on my visiting fellowships to Australia (University Newcastle, New South Wales: Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine) and The Netherlands (University of Maastricht: Dept Health Education/Promotion)) I trained health psychologists in intervention planning and evaluation (cognitive-behavioural programmes) and qualitative research methods for psychology and health research: as well as learning from their quantitative methodology for evidence-based interventions—meta-analysis. We were, as researchers, trying to find a way forward in meta-analysis that balanced quantitative and qualitative research methods: this was the substance of my PhD—how to include qualitative research in meta-analysis. These visiting fellowships enhanced my skills in teaching research skills at MSc/ PhD level and enhanced my meta-analysis skills: international team work and partnership working.
